Projekt współfinansowany ...

De-icing pad

						Investment status: finished /
            Investment value: 11 364 160,00 zł netto
This investment is related to the improvement of the environmental protection standard at the Gdansk Airport. The pad will comprise an apron of the area of 25,000m2 that will be located east of the existing apron (distance: 794 m) in order to provide an optimum connection of the pad with the designed taxiway

The Investment implementation will include the construction of an exit and the return to the taxiway. As a result, there will be no interference with other taxiing airplane. Around the pad a parking area has been provided as well as an access road for the technical services equipment.
During the winter season, de-icing is performed at different sites of the airfield in order to provide the safety of flights. Sewage from de-icing and stormwater contaminated with chemical agents is discharged directly to tanks now. The construction of the pad, where the de-icing procedure will concentrate, is an important element of environmental protection, as it will provide the collection of chemically contaminated sewage and its disposal.

De-icing sewage from the pad and stormwater will be discharged into a tank with the 5-day maintenance period, where biodegradation of chemical agents will take place.
Airplane de-icing is a key element of infrastructure, which is related to the provision of flight safety at the Gdansk Airport.
The de-icing pad will provide the simultaneous service of two airplanes of the C code (i.e. planes with referential takeoff length of 1,200m – 1,800m, the length of wings from 24m to 36m and the total spacing of external main undercarriage wheels from 6m to 9m) and one airplane of the D code in compliance with safety requirements.

It is anticipated that the area may be also used as a parking space for airplanes in the summer season. Water from the new apron will be directed to stormwater sewerage, while when de-icing agents are used, the mixture of the thawing ice and the remnants of agents will be discharged to the biodegradation tanks.
The pad will be located in the main 29 direction of the runway, where more than 75% of takeoff and landing operations take place
