Nearly 7.4 million passengers in 2025

Gdańsk Airport sums up 2025. We have the best passenger traffic in our history and solid financial results. Last year, nearly 7.4 million passengers used Gdańsk Airport, which means an increase of more than 10% compared to 2024. Specifically, in 2025 Gdańsk Airport handled 7,393,016 passengers. In the same period, 61,554 air operations were carried out, i.e. take-offs and landings, which represents an 8.3% year-over-year increase.Gdańsk Airport also achieved very good results in the financial area. Profit on sales in 2025 amounted to nearly PLN 80 million, and net profit to PLN 62.5 million.“The 2025 results confirm that Gdańsk Airport is on a stable long-term growth path. The scale of passenger traffic and our strong financial position allow us to continue investing consistently in infrastructure development, service quality and new destinations, responding to the growing needs of the region and the aviation market” – emphasised Tomasz Kloskowski, CEO of Gdańsk Airport. Among the destinations our passengers chose last year, the top places once again were: London (538,270 passengers), Oslo (486,957) and Copenhagen (428,582). Wizz Air had the largest share in regular traffic in 2025. It handled 44.2% of passengers in Gdańsk, followed by Ryanair (37.1%). These were followed by LOT Polish Airlines (4.5%) and Lufthansa (4.3%). In scheduled traffic in 2025, completely new flights from Gdańsk appeared: to Madrid, Catania, Budapest, Bucharest and Bratislava, and after many years the connection to Poprad returned, which currently enjoys very strong interest from both Polish and Slovak passengers. In December 2025, we again had Jet2.com’s festive flights from Manchester and Birmingham dedicated, among others, to tourists wishing to visit Gdańsk and the Christmas market. Last year, the airline added a festive connection from Newcastle, and, in 2026, it will also add flights from London-Gatwick and East Midlands. Throughout 2025, there were a total of 98 scheduled connections from Gdańsk to 27 countries in Europe, operated by 11 airlines. In non-scheduled traffic, mainly charter flights, the Gdańsk Airport had 672,325 passengers, 5% more than in 2024. Most tourists flew to Turkey, Egypt and Greece. However, new flights to Kenya (Mombasa), Sri Lanka (Colombo) and Morocco (Agadir) also appeared in travel agencies’ offers. In the cargo segment in 2025, nearly 11 thousand tonnes of freight and mail were handled at Gdańsk Airport. This is a result lower by more than 8% compared to the previous year.Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport is the largest airport in northern Poland, third in the country by number of passengers handled, and one of the fastest-growing regional airports.

Changing places facilities at Gdansk Airport

A changing places facility [Polish: “komfortka”] is a room equipped with a changing table or a couch with a lift that can accommodate and lift both a child and an adult. We have installed a total of four ceiling lifts on rails and four foldable and adjustable wall couches at the Airport. We have changing places facilities in four locations in the Passenger Terminal. One is located in the public area, on the ground floor, behind the check-in desks. The second is in the Baggage Claim Hall, on the ground floor. The third is located in the Departure Hall, in the Schengen area, behind the exit from the Aelia shop. The fourth is in the non-Schengen area. The rooms are marked with special graphics. “At Gdansk Airport, we strive to ensure the comfort of all passengers, including those with special needs. We are very keen to improve accessibility. Thanks to feedback from passengers, we have decided to install special lifts and couches in four bathrooms in the Passenger Terminal to serve people with disabilities and their carers," says Tomasz Kloskowski, President of Gdansk Airport. The Airport’s changing places facilities were also visited by Sylwia Błach - a blogger, writer and author of books, including children’s books about disability such as “Nie znajdziesz mnie po śladach stóp” (English: “You Won’t Find Me by My Footprints”). A wheelchair user herself, she leads a very active lifestyle and travels frequently. “I am a huge fan of Changing Places facilities, because they give people with disabilities greater independence. Having such facilities at the airport will make travelling much easier for us,” she said. The hoists and changing benches installed in the Airport’s changing places facilities were supplied and installed by LeviCare. LeviCare is a Polish manufacturer and distributor of specialized systems and medical devices designed to support the care of people with disabilities and reduced mobility. The company focuses on removing architectural barriers and improving the quality of life of dependent individuals, as well as their families and carers. LeviCare offers equipment and solutions that assist with daily care activities, transfers and rehabilitation. Its products are used in private homes, public buildings, care and rehabilitation centres, as well as hospitals. The company has been operating since 2016 and is constantly developing, expanding its product range and improving its solutions. Since August 2025, LeviCare has been operating from its new headquarters in Gdansk at ul. Astronomów 18C, near the Airport, serving customers in Poland, Europe and worldwide.

The first modern scanners will be available in Gdansk in July.

The first modern scanners will be available in Gdansk in July.

The latest generation of EDSCB C3 scanners (Explosive Detection Systems for Cabin Baggage, standard C3) allows hand luggage to be checked using computer tomography technology. It produces 3D images, which means that hand luggage can contain laptops and other large electrical devices, as well as liquids, aerosols and gels (with a maximum capacity of 2 litres per container). This technological solution will significantly speed up and facilitate security checks at airports, while increasing the detection of threats. The new scanners will be delivered to Gdansk Airport by a consortium of two companies selected in a tender: Dimark from Poznań and Anglosec from Warsaw. The new scanners should be installed and commissioned in July 2026. The contract is worth over PLN 9 million. "The implementation of the first scanners for cabin baggage screening using computed tomography technology in July 2026 is an important part of the modernization process at Gdansk Airport. The modern equipment will enable more efficient and effective security checks, while raising the Airport to a higher level of technological development. This is an investment that improves the standard of passenger service and confirms our consistent efforts to develop airport infrastructure," said Tomasz Kloskowski, President of Gdansk Airport. After the first two modern scanners start operating in Gdansk in July, the Airport will gradually order and purchase more. Ultimately, there should be as many as 12. Computed tomography scanners create detailed 3D images, making it easier for operators to detect explosives and illegal items, even in microscopic quantities. They allow for faster check-in, reduce queues and the number of devices needed, while consuming less energy. Certified by the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) and the US TSA, they comply with the highest European and global security standards.Hand luggage is placed on a conveyor belt and the scanner takes a series of X-ray images from different angles, creating a three-dimensional model of the contents. Operators can rotate the image on their monitors and analyse the interior of the luggage with unprecedented precision. The system simultaneously examines the chemical composition of items for the presence of explosives and drugs.

Gdańsk Airport Welcomes Its 7-Millionth Passenger. A New Record.

The milestone passenger was Ms Natalia Sokalska, who arrived from Warsaw on a scheduled flight operated by Polish Airlines LOT. The national carrier was a partner of the event. Natalia Sokalska lives in Gdańsk. She travelled from Amsterdam to Gdańsk via Warsaw. She was returning from work, where she serves as a third officer on a ship.  As the 7-millionth passenger, she received a return flight voucher from Gdańsk to Istanbul, access to the VIP Lounge at Gdańsk Airport, as well as promotional gifts from LOT and the Pomeranian Voivodeship local government. The welcome of the 7-millionth passenger was attended by Michał Fijoł, President of the Management Board of Polish Airlines LOT; Adam Gawrylik, Member of the Management Board of the Pomeranian Voivodeship; and Łukasz Kunowski, Director for Security at Gdańsk Airport. “This is an exceptionally important day in the history of our airport. Serving seven million passengers in a single year is not only a new record, but also confirmation of the stable development of Gdańsk Airport. It is a major event for the entire region and a sign that our offer, service quality and infrastructure meet the growing needs of passengers. We are strengthening our passenger base, expanding airport infrastructure and the route network, and the number of destinations is increasing year by year. This record is a source of pride for us and, at the same time, motivation for further development and for providing the residents of Pomerania with even greater travel opportunities,” said Tomasz Kloskowski, President of Gdańsk Airport. Gdańsk Airport estimates that it will close 2025 with approximately 7.3 million passengers. Last year, the airport checked in 6.7 million visitors. The Gdansk Airport is the third largest international airport in Poland. In the winter timetable, Gdańsk offers 74 routes to 21 countries, serving 62 airports and operated by nine airlines. In the summer timetable, starting at the end of March 2026, a record number of more than 100 connections will be available. New routes in the LOT network have already been announced: Brussels, Oslo, Bergen and Istanbul — a direct connection from Gdańsk that is highly anticipated and will launch on 14 January 2026.

New Entry/Exit System (EES)

New Entry/Exit System (EES)

LOOK HERE VIDEOStarting from 24 November 2025, the Border Guard at the Gdańsk Airport will keep records of people travelling to Poland from locations other than the following group of 29 countries: 25 member states of the European Union (excluding Cyprus and Ireland) plus Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. The EES will be used to keep records of citizens of third countries visiting European states covered by the said system for a short period (up to 90 days within a period of 180 days). Details of the travellers will be recorded in the EES regardless of the need for a short-term visa or as part of the visa-free regime. The system will also keep information about entry refusals. Ultimately, there will be no need to stamp passports. In case of persons who entered a country before the date of the launch of the EES system, they will be subject to a registration upon departure. The system will collect personal details found in travel documents, such as one’s name, surname, date of birth and citizenship. Biometric data will also be collected, including facial photographs and/or fingerprints. Moreover, the system will store dates and locations of each entry and departure in the 29 European countries using the EES. During the border check of persons already registered in the EES system, the Border Guard will also carry out an additional verification of one of biometric features by taking a facial photograph or collecting finger prints. The procedure will take place both at the arrival in and departure from the country. The EES will modernise border controls and gradually shorten the waiting time at border crossings. Implementation of the EES will allow for easy identification of citizens from outside the EU and the Schengen Area (excluding Cyprus and Ireland) who do not meet the conditions regarding entry and stay or who exceeded the stay period in the EU and the Schengen Area. Those 29 European countries that adopt the EES will gradually, for six months, implement the system in their internal borders. In the said period, collection of travellers’ data might initially take place only at some border crossings. Once the gradual implementation is complete, the EES system will function in full capacity at all external border crossings.European countries that will introduce the EES: Poland, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Spain, Iceland, the Netherlands, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Germany, Norway, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Romania, Switzerland, Sweden, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Italy, Latvia.
