We present key infrastructure projects, from the expansion of terminals and piers, through the modernization of navigation and energy systems, to the construction of a parking platform and stormwater drainage.

West Pier

The pier is located on the west side of the existing T2 Terminal. Functionally, it is an extension of T2 Terminal by a further 180 metres, with a width of 46 metres. Structurally, it is completely a separate facility. A structural expansion joint has been designed at the junction of the existing part of the Terminal and the pier.

Commencing from 28th January 2021, the most modern ILS (Instrument Landing System system) of category III B operates in Poland at the Gdansk Airport.

"Gdańsk Airport - modernization of airside infrastructure-continuation" The objective of the investment is to adapt Gdańsk Airport to the requirements for CAT II operations with RVR ≤ 350m, in the scope of:

New passenger terminal T2

New passenger terminal T2

The implementation of this task has increased the passenger capacity of Gdańsk Airport by 100%, i.e., from 2.5 to 5 million passengers (PAX) per year. This investment has contributed to improved air traffic safety and better service for carriers.

Front-terminal apron

Front-terminal apron

The front-terminal apron (PPS) will be located between the designed passenger terminal (T2), the designed taxiway, the existing aircraft parking apron (APRON 2), and the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA) Radar Center building with its access road.

The implementation of this investment will increase the operational capacity of Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport from 12 to 30 aircraft operations per hour.

Stormwater drainage system

The airport grounds have been divided into 7 catchment areas, with the exception of catchments No. 1 and No. 6, which consist of green areas and will not be included in the expansion. Meanwhile, the storm drainage system for catchments No. 2 and No. 5 will be implemented in a subsequent stage of the expansion.

As part of the preparatory works for the construction of the taxiway, a conflict with the existing energy infrastructure was resolved, and the entire power system supplying Gdańsk Airport was modernized.

"Analysis of the long-term adaptation of the Lech Wałęsa International Airport, a TEN-T node in northern Poland, to the needs of air transport", which was granted Community financial assistance on the basis of European Commission Decision No. C(2009) 4445 of June 3, 2009.

De-icing pad

De-icing pad

This element of the project is related to increasing standards regarding respect for the natural environment in the vicinity of Gdańsk Airport. This station will take the form of a pad with an area of 25,000 m2, which will be constructed to the east of the existing apron (at a distance of 794 m), taking into account the optimal connection of the station with the designed taxiway.
