Adapting the Airport to CAT II requirements

Implementation of energy-efficient navigational lighting using intelligent low-voltage technology, the completion of which will enable CAT II landings and take-offs at RVR < 350 m, including:
- Implementation of the ICE ALERT system and the construction of technical ducting for the AWOS (Automated Weather Observing System);
- Widening of the runway (DS) shoulders to $2 \times 7.5$ m, increasing the runway pavement load-bearing capacity to 70 PCN, and ensuring maximum compliance of the runway longitudinal profile with the standards and recommendations of ICAO Annex 14;
The investment project includes the following tasks:
1. Expansion of the navigational lighting system - related to upgrading the airport category;
2. Expansion of accompanying infrastructure, which includes the following elements:
- Adaptation of the communication system through its expansion;
- Purchase of a monitoring and energy management system;
- Adaptation of the navigational light control system;
- Adaptation of cable ducting, as well as fiber optic and copper cables, to the needs of airport teletechnical installations.
Project value: 79,075,310 PLN
Co-financing value: 32,135,435 PLN
Project objective: Expansion of technical infrastructure enabling the maintenance of target airport capacity parameters within the TEN-T network.
Project number POIS.06.03.00-00-013/12-00 titled: "Gdańsk Airport - modernization of airside infrastructure-continuation" is being implemented under Measure 6.3 Development of the TEN-T aviation network, Priority VI Road and air TEN-T network, of the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme 2007 – 2013.
