This element of the project is related to increasing standards regarding respect for the natural environment in the vicinity of Gdańsk Airport. This station will take the form of a pad with an area of 25,000 m2, which will be constructed to the east of the existing apron (at a distance of 794 m), taking into account the optimal connection of the station with the designed taxiway.

PRIORITY: Priority VI: TEN-T road and air network

ACTION: 6.3: DEVELOPMENT OF THE TEN-T AIR NETWORK

Gdańsk Airport – modernization of airside airport infrastructure

As part of the project's implementation, an exit from and a return to the taxiway will be constructed. This will ensure that there is no blockage for other taxiing aircraft. A parking apron and an access road for ground support equipment are provided around the station.

The construction of a dedicated station where the de-icing procedure will be concentrated is an important environmental protection element, as it enables the collection of chemically contaminated wastewater and its proper disposal. De-icing runoff and stormwater from the station will be directed to a tank with a 5-day retention time, where the biodegradation of chemical reagents will occur.

Aircraft de-icing is a key infrastructure component related to ensuring flight safety at Gdańsk Airport. The de-icing pad will allow for the simultaneous service of two Code C aircraft (i.e., aircraft with a reference field length of 1,200 m to 1,800 m, a wingspan of 24 m to 36 m, and an outer main gear wheel span of 6 m to 9 m) or one Code D aircraft, while maintaining all safety requirements.

It is anticipated that during the summer period, this station may also be used as an aircraft parking apron. During the summer, water from the new apron will be directed to the storm drainage system, while during the period when aircraft de-icing agents are used, the mixture of melted ice and residual agents will be discharged into biodegradation tanks. The station will be located at the main threshold of Runway 29, which handles over 75% of take-off and landing operations.
