Gdansk Airport has closed the first quarter with an almost 20% increase in the number of guests served. The Company's financial results make good impression.

During the three months of 2024, there were 1,232,684 passengers at Gdansk Airport. This is 19.6% more than in the same period of 2023. There were 10,941 flight operations, 17.8% more than a year ago.

The most popular destinations chosen by passengers were London (119,598) and Oslo (93,777), however Copenhagen came third (78,212).

In the first quarter of this year, the Airport company generated PLN 8.6 million in sales profit and over PLN 10 million in net profit.

“We have made a fantastic start to this year. Twenty per cent growth after the first quarter is a sensational result. Geopolitically, the situation is not simple. Every now and then some conflict smoulders, and there is still a regular war going on beyond our Eastern border. Airlines are having problems with aircraft and engines. Despite this, it promises to be a very good season for both scheduled and charter air traffic. We already have signals that there are very high sales of holidays with tour operators,” - said Tomasz Kloskowski, President of Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport.

Wizz Air had the largest market share in the first quarter of 2024. They have made 46.4% of connections in Gdansk, followed by Ryanair (35.2%). LOT Polish Airlines (5.2%) was in third place.

As for cargo and mail handling at Gdansk Airport, the results improved by 4.4%. 2 600 tonnes of cargo have been handled.
