On 5th April 2024, a gala was held at AmberExpo to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Airport at its current location in Gdansk and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the company Port Lotniczy.
At the invitation of the Airport's management and owners, the event was attended by the representatives of airlines from Poland and abroad, transport and tourism industry, Airport contractors, colleagues and friends. Politicians, diplomats, officials, business and media people were among its guests.
The Gala was honoured by the prominent figures of Pomeranian culture and sport: the actors Dorota Kolak, Mirosław Baka, Grzegorz Gzyl and Bernard Szyc, the musician and rocker Krzysztof Skiba and the athlete Anna Rogowska.
Persons who have had a major impact on the development of the Airport were honoured during the Gala in Gdansk:

3. Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, Mayor of Gdansk; the award was collected by Piotr Grzelak, Deputy Mayor of Gdansk for Sustainable Development and Investment
4. Wojciech Szczurek, President of Gdynia; the award was collected by Katarzyna Gruszecka-Spychała, Deputy President of Gdynia for Economic Affairs
5. Magdalena Czarzyńska-Jachim, for President of Sopot
6. Jacek Karnowski, Member of Parliament, former President of Sopot
7. Andrzej Illków, President of the Board of Polskie Porty Lotnicze company

The awardees received certificates and statuettes, which had been specially created for the Birthday Gala. They were made of bronze by the sculptor Tomasz Radziewicz. The title of the sculpture is “Freedom”. As the author says: "It was inspired by the Airport logo and the idea of freedom, with which everything that constitutes modern man is associated. Freedom as the freedom of speech, freedom of spirit, freedom of thought or freedom to move and discover the world".
The Birthday Gala featured performances by artists including the popular singer Reni Jusis, soloists and ballet from the Musical Theatre of Gdynia, Capella Gedanensis, Bubliczki Band from Kashubia, pianists and jazzmen from Pomerania. NoMoreMedia and the Edmund Institute were responsible for the production of the Gala.
