6 Million Passengers at Gdansk Airport

Gdansk airport has broken another of its records.

Today we welcomed the 6 millionth passenger in 2024. Ms Isabella flew with her fiancé Wojciech from Rome on Wizz Air. Both of them live in Chojnice and travel quite often by plane. The 6 millionth passenger received a gift of a voucher for airline tickets for two, for a flight to any port that Wizz Air operates to from Gdansk, and some airport goodies. Wizz Air was the event’s partner. The welcome celebration was honoured by actors from the Gdansk Archipelago of Culture theatre. There was a sweet treat for the 6 millionth passenger and all guests.

“We’re glad and grateful that you choose Gdansk Airport as the place to take off and return from your travels. Thank you for the trust you place in us every day. The airport’s success is the result of the hard work of the entire team, including our partners, and a development strategy endorsed by the owners, including the local authorities of the Tricity and Pomeranian Voivodeship. A record 6 million passengers in one year is the best present we could have dreamed of for the airport’s 50th anniversary, which we are celebrating this year,” said Tomasz Kloskowski, CEO of Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport.

Gdansk Airport estimates that it will close the entire year 2024 with around 6.7 million passengers. Last year, the airport checked in 5.9 million visitors. The Gdansk Airport is the third largest international airport in Poland.

Rome is but one of the many destinations offered by Wizz Air from Gdansk. The Hungarian airline features 32 airports across Europe in its winter route network. Since the end of October, it has launched brand new flights to the Portuguese island of Madeira. This autumn and winter, all airlines are offering a total of 71 destinations to 19 countries from Gdansk. And there is the extensive network of charter routes offered by travel agents.
