It was built by the investor, General Aviation Airbase Sp. z o.o [General Aviation Airbase Ltd.], together with Gdansk Airport.
In view of the growing needs of general and business aviation and the prospects for further development of these branches of aviation in Poland, an appropriate infrastructure for this type of operation has been accomplished and a base for 20 aircraft has been created.
The new hangar has an area of 4,000 square metres. It has been designed with care for every detail, including a comfortable waiting area for passengers. The lounge is equipped with panoramic windows allowing those waiting for a flight to view the apron and the aircraft taking off. There is also a social area for crews to prepare for the flight. The hangar is equipped with modern aircraft towing and handling equipment. Customers can take advantage of a dedicated ground handling service, including transport of crew and passengers in a comfortable electric car. Gdansk Airport has built an apron, taxiway and technical road for the aircraft. All investments were carried out to the standard of the requirements for infrastructure used in ILS Cat III B provisions, together with appropriate electrical installation and navigation lighting.
"Modern infrastructure for General Aviation means following the trends and the expectations of aircraft owners, crews and passengers. Gdansk has a huge potential for the development of business aviation, and we provide the right facilities for it," - says Anna Fiedoruk, Board Member of General Aviation Airbase.
"We are giving aircraft owners a state-of-the-art facility together with the surroundings for their operational use. This is one of the most modern facilities of its kind in Poland, which was highly anticipated by our customers. We believe that after the pandemic, private aircraft are a complement for business and tourist travel. We look forward to the development of general aviation traffic at our airport," - said Tomasz Kloskowski, President of Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport.
The construction of the hangar and the surrounding infrastructure took 2 years. The use of of the facility is possible after prior notification to the e-mail address GAA@airbase.aero or by phone at +48 885 398 855. Detailed information can also be found at www.airbase.aero.
