Almost 4.6 million passengers, almost PLN 23 million in net profit and more than 10,000 tonnes of cargo - these are the results of Gdansk Airport for 2022.

For the whole of 2022, Gdansk Airport handled 4,576,705 passengers. This is more than 112 per cent more than in 2021, and only 14.9 per cent less than in the record year of 2019, when the Airport welcomed almost 5.4 million visitors. The highest number of passengers was in July 2022, almost 568,000, and it was a record month in the history of Gdansk Airport.

"A very good year is behind us. We got out of the hole. We have rebuilt the air traffic, which is back to 85% of the record year of 2019. This shows that neither the war in Ukraine nor inflation frightened our customers. They wanted and still want to fly. And we hope this will not change. I am convinced that we will have a record-breaking 2023 ahead of us and we will have the most passengers in the history of our Airport," - said Tomasz Kloskowski, the President of Lech Walesa Gdansk Airport.

Gdansk Airport generated almost PLN 23 million in net profit in 2022 (PLN 22,809 thousand). This is a big leap compared to 2021, when we had a PLN -2.4 million loss (PLN -2,436 thousand). In 2022, the Port recorded almost PLN 28.5 million profit on sales (PLN 28,442 thousand), compared to a loss of almost PLN -14.5 million (PLN -14,488 thousand) in 2021.

"After the very difficult years of the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, despite external and internal economic difficulties, rising costs and inflation, we have managed to generate a profit of almost PLN 23 million. This is great news for the company, its owners and employees, because our company can continue to grow," added Tomasz Kloskowski.

Gdansk Airport has a record result for 2022 in the amount of cargo handled. Within 12 months, it amounted to 10,189 tonnes of cargo, 11.1 per cent more than in 2021. We have already recorded an increase of 47.9% since 2019.

The most popular destinations for passengers flying from Gdansk in 2022 are: London (384,383), Oslo (329,716) and Stockholm (267,551). As far as charter flights are concerned, the most popular destinations were Turkey, Greece and Egypt.

The leader in the scheduled passenger traffic in 2022 was Ryanair, which overtook 41.2% of the Gdansk market. Wizz Air with 39.4% was in second place. The remaining flights were operated by the following airlines: LOT, Lufthansa, KLM, Norwegian, SAS, Finnair, Eurowings and SWISS.

In 2022, there were a total of 43,987 flight operations at Gdansk Airport, 50.1 per cent more than in 2021 and only 10 per cent less than in 2019.
