Almost 3.5 million passengers in Gdansk in 2022

This year we can have a total of 4.7 million visitors, next year we are hoping for up to 5.5 million. In the period from January to September 2022, we had made profit of almost PLN 27 million.

Between January and the end of September this year, Gdansk Airport welcomed a total of 3,422,551 passengers, almost 150% more than during the nine months of last year, and only 16.4% less than in 2019, a record year for Gdansk Airport.

"After three quarters of 2022, we have handled almost three and a half million passengers and these results are spectacular. They mean that we will close 2022 with a result of 4,700,000 passengers. And if it goes so well, then in 2023, hopefully, we will exceed the number of 5.5 million passengers, we will be at the level, or maybe even jump over the level of the record year for us in 2019. The results are all the more pleasing as the macroeconomic conditions are difficult, there is war behind our eastern border, the energy market is uncertain, the inflation is high, crisis and recession are coming,” said Tomasz Kloskowski, President of Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport.

The most popular destinations chosen in 2022 by passengers flying from Gdansk are: London (278,139 people), Oslo (234,773) and Stockholm (196,667). The leader among airlines was Ryanair with 41.1 per cent of the market, followed by Wizz Air (39.6 per cent) and the next one was LOT (5.5 per cent).

After three quarters of 2022, the profit on sales of Gdansk Airport amounted to PLN 25,598,000 and the net profit to PLN 26,625,000, compared to the loss of PLN - 2,301,000 within nine months last year.

"The most important thing for Gdansk Airport is the improving economic situation. After two years of drought, after three quarters of this year, we have positive financial results, over PLN 25 million profiton sales and over PLN 26 million net profit. This bodes very well for future," said Tomasz Kloskowski.

In the number of take-offs and landings in the three quarters of this year, Gdansk Airport recorded an increase of almost 70%. From January to the end of September, there were 33,607 flight operations. 7,644 tons of cargo and mail were transported the period from January to September 2022 at Gdansk Airport, more than 15% more than in 2021.
