Better results in the number of passengers served, take-off and landing operations and the amount of cargo carried. Good financial results at Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport.

During the six months of 2024, Gdansk Airport welcomed a total of 2,975,754 passengers. This is 13 per cent more than in the same period of 2023. Air operations amounted to 26,015, 16.2 per cent more than a year ago.

"Excellent six months are behind us. We have had almost 3 million passengers, which is a 13 per cent increase compared to last year. We always have more passengers in the second half of the year than in the first one, so we will definitely beat last year's record. For the year as a whole, there will be a figure above 6 million passengers. How much over that? We don't know that yet,” - said Tomasz Kloskowski, President of Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport. “It is very interesting that the number of flight operations has increased, which shows that airlines have added new aircraft, and this may cause further growth in passenger traffic,” - added Tomasz Kloskowski.

The most popular destinations chosen by passengers were London (257,909) and Oslo (219,198), with Copenhagen in third place (182,566).

During the half-year of 2024, Gdansk Airport generated PLN 35,879 million profit on sales and PLN 26,245 million net profit. In the same period of 2023, the company had more than PLN 13 million profit on sales and more than PLN 3 million net profit.

Wizz Air had the largest market share in the first half of 2024. It made 44.2 per cent of connections in Gdansk, followed by Ryanair (35.9 per cent). It was followed by LOT Polish Airlines (4.9 per cent) and Lufthansa (4.5 per cent).

In cargo and mail handling at Gdansk Airport, the performance improved by 15.5 per cent during the six months of 2024 compared to the relevant period of 2023. 5,757 tonnes of cargo were handled.
