Already more than one million passengers at Gdansk Airport. This is the best result ever for the first three months of a year.

There have been more passengers, flight operations and cargo. The company has recorded a profit.

From January to March 2023, Gdansk Airport handled 1 030 976 passengers. They were as much as 63.7 per cent more than in the comparable period last year and 3 per cent more than in the record-breaking year 2019. The Airport authorities are still hoping to beat the pre-pandemic record of more than 5.4 million visitors by the end of 2023.

"We are still heading for the 2019 record, when we handled 5.4 million passengers. In our plans for this year, we anticipated that there would be a stronger rebound. However, we see that air traffic around us has diminished a bit. The situation around us, in political terms, including the war, and economically, including inflation, are dampening our hopes of breaking records. But it is still our ambitious goal to beat the 2019 record and we hope that more passengers will visit us," said Tomasz Kloskowski, the President of Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport.

Within three months, the company managing Gdansk Airport has generated a net profit of PLN 3,636,000.

"After the first quarter, we have reached a profit on sales of almost PLN 2.5 million and a net profit of over 3.5 million. This is a very good result considering the economic circumstances around us. However, for the time being, after three months of this year, I am not drawing far-reaching conclusions either about passenger traffic or the Airport's financial situation. We have to wait for the results to come in the middle of the year," - Tomasz Kloskowski added.

In the first quarter of 2023, there were 9,284 take-offs and landings at Gdansk Airport, 20.7% more than in 2022 (January-March). The largest share of traffic was carried out by aircraft from the airlines Ryanair (40.8%) and Wizz Air (40.4%).

The most popular connections from Gdansk were to London (107,268 passengers), Oslo (85,501) and Stockholm (67,697).

A total of 2,490 tonnes of cargo and mail were handled at Gdansk Airport during the three months of 2023, that is 1.5% more than in the comparable period last year.
