In July 2016, Gdansk Lech Wales Airport served 422,290 customers, which is a 1.4% drop comparing to July last year.
Since the beginning of this year Gdansk Airport has already served 2,672,871 passengers, which means an increase of 4.4% in comparison to the same period in 2015.
“July was the first month of this year, and the first month after 36 months of regular growth, which indicated a decrease in the number of passengers. The cause of this declining dynamics is the reduced number of passengers of non-regular flights, mainly tourist charter flights, as well as the stabilization of transport provided by regular carriers. As few as five times less passengers flew to the countries such as Egypt, Tunisia or Turkey comparing to July last year. Although the regular traffic was kept at a stabilized level, resulting in almost 1% growth, we are not trying to conjure the reality. You cannot record growth on permanent basis and break records every month. In July 2015 we served 428,539 passengers, which is an unusually high “basis” value. We were just not able to improve it this year. This is an unusually strong stimulus mobilizing us to put all our possible efforts in order to maintain this long-term growth tendency and conclude this year with another record, that is overcoming the barrier of 4 million passengers” - said Tomasz Kloskowski, the President of Board of the Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport.
