More and more passengers and investments in full swing: it is another excellent month at Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport

In the first eight months of this year, Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport has once again handled an impressive number of passengers. From January to August 2011, the number of passengers served reached 1.6 million, which is a 9% increase compared to the same period in 2010.
Only in August, nearly 260 thousand passengers were handled in Gdańsk, which is 6% more than in August 2010, the record month to date.
The results in cargo transport are excellent too. Over the first eight months in 2011, Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport has handled a total of over 3,221 tons of cargo, which is an over 14% increase in comparison with the same period in 2010.

“We are of course very happy about the constant increase in the dynamics of passenger and cargo figures. We all realize that such a rapid growth must be accompanied by a development of the airport infrastructure. In this domain too we have reason to be proud. In August, part of the new pre-terminal apron area and two outermost sections of the taxiway were commissioned. Especially the second investment, now put into use already in approx. 75% of its length, has significantly contributed to faster and more effective air operations”, says Tomasz Kłoskowski, President of the Management Board of Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport.
