In the nine months of this year, Gdansk Airport saw 5,124,392 passengers. This is 13.6% more than in the corresponding period last year. At the same time, there were 43,709 flight operations, 17.3% more than in Jan-Nov 2023.
‘The dynamics of passenger growth this year show that by the end of 2024 we could even have 6.5 to 6.6 million visitors, which is a very good, stable 10 per cent growth for us. For the record, we closed the year 2023 with a result of 5.9 million passengers,’ said Tomasz Kloskowski, CEO of Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport.
After the three quarters of 2024, the Airport company generated a net profit of PLN 46,482 million and a profit on sales of PLN 57,911 million. ‘My assessment of the company’s financial situation is very good. It should be noted that we have not made any new investments since the pandemic. So we have less expenses and more funds in our accounts. On the other hand, however, we are repaying the bonds, PLN 60 million every year,’ said Tomasz Kloskowski.
The top destinations chosen by our passengers this year continue to be: London (392,866 passengers), Oslo (362,368) and Copenhagen (292,301).
Wizz Air had the largest market share in Jan-Nov 2024. It made 44.8% of its flights in Gdansk, followed by Ryanair (35.7%). These were followed by LOT Polish Airlines (4.8%) and Lufthansa (4.5%).
In cargo we see an increase of 5.7%, totalling 8,794 tonnes in the nine months of 2024.
