Wizz Air, Central and Eastern Europe's largest low fare - low cost airline announced today that it would start flying between Gdansk and Cork, starting on 15th December 2006.
Wizz Air has opened a base in Gdansk early this spring and recently launched 5 new routes including Gdansk-Cork making it a total of 8 routes from the Pomeranian capital. The new route announcement comes just a week before the first take off of a Wizz Air aircraft from Cork to Katowice.
The flight between Gdansk and Cork will be operated three times a week initially, starting on 15 December. Tickets are already on sale from 38,99 EUR (one-way, including taxes and charges) on the airline's website, wizzair.com or through the Wizz Air call centre on +48 22 351 94 99.

Speaking at the announcement of the 40th scheduled destination from Cork, Pat Keohane, Chief Executive, Cork Airport said: "We are delighted with Wizz Air's announcement that they are to add Gdansk to our ever growing list of destinations direct from Cork Airport. Cork Airport is fast becoming a gateway to Eastern Europe and Poland in particular. Since the start of this year we have added four new Polish destinations and the first Wizz Air service to Katowice will commence on July 14th next with very heavy advance bookings and we look forward to busy traffic on the Gdansk route also.
