Wizz Air, Central and Eastern Europe’s largest low-fare, low-cost airline announced today that it would start new flights from Gdansk to Lübeck. Lübeck is the second German city after Dortmund served by the airline from Pomerania. From Gdansk Wizz Air currently flies to London/Luton, Dortmund and will commence flights to Stockholm/Skavsta and Liverpool on 1st December 2005 and 1st March 2006 respectively.
This is already the fourth news on Wizz Air’s expansion from Poland and particularly from Gdansk within a short period of two weeks. Wizz Air just recently announced the establishement of its new crew bases in Warsaw and Gdansk and the start of the new Wroclaw-Dortmund and Gdansk-Liverpool flights from March 2006. All these steps underline Wizz Air’s commitment to the Polish market. Since the start of operations in May 2004 Wizz Air has carried 1.5 million passengers on the airline’s routes to and from Poland and became the undisputed market leader with over 40% share of the low cost market.
