Gdańsk Airport – construction of a second passenger terminal with infrastructure, as well as the expansion and modernization of airport and port infrastructure
The aircraft apron (PPS) is linked to the construction of Terminal T2. It will enable apron-side aircraft handling. The PPS will connect with the existing aircraft apron, the new taxiway, and the new Terminal 2. Thanks to its construction, Gdańsk Airport will gain 9 new parking stands for Code C aircraft in the first line in front of the passenger terminal and 6 stands for Code C aircraft in the second line.
An internal taxiway will also be constructed on the apron. The apron will be adapted for the parking and taxiing of Code C aircraft, as well as two Code D aircraft at dedicated stands.
The estimated area of the apron (PPS) is approximately 68,000 m2.
The total number of aircraft parking stands is 15. A portion of the surface is designated for technical vehicle roadways and walkways for passengers and technical staff. Stormwater from the apron area will be integrated into the airport's storm drainage system, which is equipped with wastewater treatment facilities, biodegradation tanks for de-icing agents, and retention basins to reduce the intensity of runoff into receiving waters.
Primary cable ducting for the power cables of 16m and 20m high floodlight masts, as well as primary and secondary ducting for centerline light power cables, is planned beneath the pavement structure. Horizontal markings will be applied to the surface of the apron (PPS).
Statistical trivia from the construction of the Aircraft Apron (PPS):
- 68,768.00 m2 of mineral-organic soil and topsoil layer was removed at a depth of 0.2 – 2 m
- 76,480.00 m2 of subgrade was excavated for pavements and shoulders
- 76,480.00 m2 of soil stabilization was performed using hydraulic binder
- 74,980.00 m2 of drainage geocomposite was laid
- 55,018.00 m2 of C16/20 concrete base course was completed
- 55,018.00 m2 of class 35/45 concrete wearing course was completed
- 7,810.00 m of cables were laid
