Gdańsk Airport – modernization of airside airport infrastructure
A taxiway with an asphalt surface, featuring a 23.0 m wide strip with 7.5 m reinforced shoulders on both sides and a length of 2,599 m. The taxiway will be located parallel to the runway, to which it will be connected by eight taxiways. Among these, six connectors will be newly built, and two existing high-speed exit taxiways will be modernized. The centerline distance from the runway will be 182.5 m to the north of the existing runway.
The surface area of the taxiway, including exit taxiways and reinforced shoulders, will be 170,610 m2.
This investment is strictly linked to achieving an operational capacity that will enable the handling of new Code D aircraft (i.e., aircraft with a reference take-off length of 1,800 m or more, wingspan from 36 m to 52 m, and an outer main gear wheel span from 9 m to 14 m) and occasionally Code E aircraft (wingspan from 52 m to 65 m, and an outer main gear wheel span from 9 m to 14 m).
Statistical facts from the construction of the Taxiway:
- 29,987.00 m2 of asphalt surface was mechanically removed (milling)
- 21,051.00 m2 of concrete surface was mechanically removed
- 178,106.00 m2 of subgrade was excavated for the structural layers of the pavement
- 178,106.00 m2 of soil stabilization was performed using hydraulic binder
- 182,420.00 m2 of frost-protection layer made of natural aggregate was installed
- 172,410.00 m2 of crushed aggregate base course was installed
- 171,380.00 m2 of asphalt concrete base course was installed
- 132,530.00 m2 of asphalt concrete binder course was installed
- 170,610.00 m2 of asphalt concrete wearing course was installed
