2 million passengers carried in 17 months

Wizz Air, Central and Eastern Europe’s largest low fare - low cost airline today carried its TWO MILLIONth passenger. Martyna Lelińska was travelling from Katowice, Poland - the airline’s first base - to Milan Bergamo and will receive unlimited tickets for a year on the Wizz Air network.

The airline celebrated its one millionth passenger in April 2005, less than a year after the very first take off. The second million was achieved in a record time of 5 months, keeping the airline well on track to more than double its number of passengers this year.

Wizz Air has been growing rapidly since starting operations in May 2004, adding bases and destinations, increasing capacity on its routes and bringing new aircraft into the fleet. This winter Wizz Air will increase its capacity by 25% when compared with summer 2005 and will introduce 6 new routes. The airline also will take delivery of a new Airbus A320 aircraft in the second half of October and will be followed by additional aircraft in 2006 and beyond.

Wizz Air is constantly reinforcing its leadership in and commitment to the Central and Eastern European market. The airline added Poznan to its airport network in Poland and recently  opened Eastern and Southern European markets with flights to Kaunas/Lithuania and Sofia/Bulgaria from Warsaw and Budapest, respectively.

József Váradi, Chief Executive Officer of Wizz Air said: “Wizz Air very rapidly became the leading low cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe and has been growing ever since. Carrying 2 million passengers within  17 months speaks for itself.  We are looking forward to carrying the next 2 million Wizz customers in half the time."
