LOTOS Tank, a company belonging to the LOTOS S.A. Group tanked up its first airplane at the Gdansk Airport. This was a Norwegian Air Shuttle airliner operating between Gdansk and Oslo.
– We have two reasons to celebrate today – emphasizes Dariusz Falkiewicz, CEO of LOTOS Tank. – On one hand it’s the first refuelling “to the wing” in the history of our company. On the other hand, is the first load of aviation fuel from an alternative supplier at the Gdansk Airport. I believe that our presence at the airport in Gdansk will have a positive effect on the services rendered to the carriers operating here and that it will contribute to further development of our airport.
– We are very pleased that our airport in Gdansk has acquired a new fuel agent to its offer – says Włodzimierz Machczyński, CEO of the Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport. – We are all working together on the development of the airport and it is owing to such investments in infrastructure as the modern fuel base of LOTOS Tank that allows us to become even more attractive to airlines and small aircraft owners. I believe that the benefits will also be felt by the passengers in the form of further development of the network of air connections from Gdansk.
Let us recall that in June this year LOTOS Tank opened a modern fuel base at the Gdansk Airport. Within six months of the investment project LOTOS constructed modern facilities and storage tanks for aviation fuels of the highest quality, which will get to the airport directly from the Gdansk refinery. The base consists of 4 ground storage tanks for aviation fuel. They total capacity amounts to 400 m3. Due to the specific requirements regarding the quality of aviation fuels, the base is equipped, among other things, with a state-of-the-art tank drainage system.
– This, of course, is not the end of our plans. We intend to continue the dynamic growth.
In November we will join in the competition in tenders for the supply of fuels to LOT, Wizz Air and Jet Air in Gdansk. Whereas next year we are planning to enter as an alternative supplier of aviation fuels other Polish airports – CEO Falkiewicz completes his statement.
The Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport is now the first and only airport in Poland, where carriers are offered fuelling services from more than one supplier. Due to the competition among fuel agents, it will be possible to offer lower prices to aircraft tanking up at the Gdansk Airport.
