Open Skies over Poland

Under this slogan, a two-day conference was held, entitled “Prospects for the Passenger Transport Market in Poland - on the Way to European Union”.

The conference was held along with AIRPORT EXPO 2003 - an exhibition of airport equipment and services. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure Marek Pol was its honorary patron. The conference was organised by Actia Forum Ltd. After Poland’s integration with the Common European Airspace, liberalisation of air services will take place. A question remains to be answered, whether liberalisation of air services will trigger off sudden increased interest of foreign carriers’ in the Polish market. In the longer term, “opening of the skies” should result in reduced prices of airplane tickets. Globally, further increase in the market share of low cost airlines and uncertainty of traditional carriers can be anticipated - such were the principal conclusions of the conference.
