Three companies are willing to construct the pier of the T2 Passenger Terminal at Gdansk Airport. The prices offered by the companies range from about PLN 255 million to about 263 million. Even though it will be more expensive that we have planned, we are going to build it!
On August 6th, 2019, the tender committee opened the offers of the companies willing to construct the pier. Budimex company offered to do it for PLN 263 069 627.00 net, Hochtief for PLN 262 993 137.47 net, and Doraco for 255 229 228.00. The submitted offers will now be subject to formal assessment, and then the best one will be chosen.
Although the offers exceed the assumed budget, the Management Board of Gdansk Airport decided to build the pier. To finance it, the airport authorities intend to slow down other smaller investments. As Tomasz Kloskowski, the President of Gdansk Airport, said, “The construction of the pier is our priority, because it can ensure comfort of passengers and carriers travelling to and from the Non-Schengen area, and increase the capacity of security and passport control for passengers. Thus, despite the higher costs, we have decided to build it.” As the President added, “I can assure you that without these few other smaller investments, the airport will continue to operate safely and in a good manner. What is more, we hope to obtain EU funds for those investments.”
As the additional pier will be built to to the passenger terminal, Gdansk Airport will gain 16 000.00 square meters of usable area. The central security control and passport control zones, the baggage reclaim hall and the Non-Schengen zone will all be expanded, and two bus exits will be built. It is also planned to expand the network of internal access roads to the airport.
