In June 2011, Gdańsk Lech Walesa Airport handled 236.5 thousand passengers, which is a 7% increase in comparison with June 2010. From January to June 2011, already 1,110,171 passengers were handled in Gdańsk, which is a 10% increase compared to the same period last year.
“We are proud to say that Gdańsk Lech Walesa Airport is developing perfectly in every respect. Every month we record an increase in the number of passengers handled. We certainly owe our fantastic (around 10%) result to the increasing mobility of the inhabitants of Pomerania to a large extent, as well as to the increasing tourist attractiveness of our Region. We are not resting on our laurels either. We keep working on expanding the network of connections. On the 1st of July, Gdańsk obtained the long-awaited direct connection with Cracow and Wrocław. Each year, the number of charter flights offered increases too. The dynamic growth of the number of passengers handled and the expansion of the connection network must be accompanied by a modern infrastructure with an increased capacity. At present, we are implementing the biggest investment program in the history of our airport. Next year already, apart from excellent flight connections, we will be able to offer our passengers highly comfortable conditions of traveling”, stated Tomasz Kloskowski, President of the Management Board of Gdańsk Lech Walesa Airport.
