Wizz Air carried 10 millionth passenger

Wizz Air, the largest CEE based low fare - low cost airline announced that it has carried 10 million passengers on 9 February 2008. This important milestone was reached in less than 4 years, since its May 2004 launch.

In order to strengthen its market position in the region, the airline recently opened its seventh base in Poznan (Poland). The route network will be further expanded by over 20 new routes in the coming 6 months and a new base opening (8th) in Cluj (Romania) will follow in May. Talking about passenger volumes, in 2008 the airline will carry 6.2 million passengers. The fast development will be supported by new aircraft deliveries during the year. In summer 2008 the single type Wizz Air fleet will consist of 19 Airbus A320 type aircraft. The continuous growths underlines Wizz Air’s market leadership in the existing home markets such as Poland, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria and enables expansion into new geographies.

Wizz Air is right on track to carry its next 10 million passengers by July 2009, less than 18 months from today.
